A Mobile support Application for Dormitory

Objective of project

We aim to develop a mobile smart phone system to solve the problems occurred during the roll-call in the dormitory, to further reduce the burden of students and supervision of teacher. It uses LINE bots and current geographic information of the smart phone.

In Hokushin dormitory of NIT Tsuyama college, boarding students have to attend three times of roll-call: morning roll-call, roll-call at school and night roll-call. Every time each student has to swipe his student card through the machine that is set in the office of dormitory. Since there are more than 370 students in the dormitory, it causes several crucial problems. For example, noise of the crowd of students, failure of reading students’ card. In order to solve such problems, we develop a smart roll-call system for dormitory students. This system runs on smart mobile phone, and uses LINE bots and geo-information. Firstly, we register an account “roll-call bot” on LINE, which is a famous and widely used application on smart phone. Secondly, each boarding student registers this account as his/her friend through LINE with his own smart phone. When it is time for roll-call, he/she will receive a message with a roll-call button. If he/she press it, information of the smart phone and its current geo-information will be read and sent to the server in the background. Finally, authentication will be conducted for such information. If it is passed the student’s roll-call will be permitted. Although we have not conducted any experiments, we suppose that by using our system the roll-call can be held accurately and smoothly, and it will no longer be burden both for boarding students and supervision of teachers and students.
